Doubling Bristol’s canopy cover

Nature

Challenge

Double Bristol’s canopy cover by 2050 to combat air pollution and enhance biodiversity. Public and political support fundamental to achieving the target, due to reduced public funds for tree planting.

Solution

Call on residents and businesses to pledge support by sharing a tree selfie and tagging #TalkingTreesBristol. The experiential campaign featuring a Talking Tree timed to coincide with annual Festival of Nature.

Result

Extensive media coverage including BBC Countryfile, ITV West Country and BBC Radio Bristol. Secured high profile ambassadors - including Tony Robinson, Andy Day and Benedict Allen - to front campaign and reached over 2 million people on social.

Impact

Campaign referenced by Lord Gardiner, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Rural Affairs and Biosecurity, during Environmental Audit Committee. Corporate sponsorship secured. Reached 20,000 people at Festival of Nature.
